Day 1: Arrival in Phnom Penh

Meal: No Meal

 

upon arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport. Your excellent tour guide is waiting to be picked up. A cold towel and pure drinking water are available during the transfer. First, visit the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda was built by King Norodom in 1866 within its bright yellow walls are the most prominent features and impressive Khmer-style colorful halls for the royal family, then visit the Silver Pagoda, located in the Royal Palace complex. Inside, the floor is made of 5000 silver tiles. In the center of the pagoda is a magnificent 17th-century emerald Buddha stand made of baccarat crystal and its surrounding walls are covered with frescoes depicting episodes from the Khmer version of the Ramayana. Continue the visit at Wat Phnom which is a hill in the city located on top of a 27 meter high tree covered hill. According to legend, the first pagoda on this site was built in 1373 and in fact it was rebuilt in 1434, 1806, 1894 and the last one in 1922. You can pass through the quiet beauty of the Mekong River to a private sunset in front of the Royal Palace. Overnight in Phnom Penh.

Day 2: Phnom Penh - departure

After breakfast at the hotel, visit the Tol Selang Genocide Museum (S-21) a memorial and testimony to the insanity of the Khmer Rouge regime, Tol Selang kept extensive records, leaving thousands of photos of their victims and then continue to Tol Tumong (Russian Market) . This is the best place in town for souvenir shopping with a great variety of real and fake antiques. Items for sale include miniature Buddha, silk silver jewelry, gems, ganja, ... Stop at the National Museum of Cambodia is a graceful terracotta building of traditional design (built in 1917 - 20). After lunch at a local restaurant (own expense) then transfer to airport for onward flight.
